 About our Pastor

Pastor McLeodDr. Al McLeod, Th.D., Ph.D.

Pastor McLeod's favorite Bible verse is II Timothy 1:7 which says "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind". This verse is so special to our pastor because growing up, he was a very shy boy. In fact, upon graduation from high school he was voted the quietest boy in his graduating class. After graduation from high school, this shy, quiet teen joined the U. S. Air Force and served four years active duty, and two years on an inactive basis. Following his military duty he worked at Scott Paper Company in Chester, PA before entering Seminary. But it was during his time in the Air Force two major decisions were made that changed his life. First, he met and married his wife (of 49 years) Dolores in 1959. Second, he came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ on March 12, 1960 through the prayers and efforts of his wife Dolores. After graduating from Seminary in 1969, Pastor McLeod and his wife (and now two children) accepted a call to pastor the First Baptist Church of Damascus, PA. Following serving there, he was called to serve as pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church of Preston, CT where he served as pastor for 15 years, during which time the church built a new building and expanded. Pastor McLeod and his family moved to New Jersey on January 15, 1986 and started his ministry here as pastor, where he has been ever since. Pastor and Dolores have four children, who are all actively serving the Lord in their respective ministries. They are blessed also with 13 grandchildren.

When looking back over his life, our pastor knows only our great God could have caused this "quiet" boy to become a preacher, and he says "only the Grace of God could do that"!

"...a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid"
